Early Orthodontic Evaluation in Children
You may already realize that the best solution for any problem is to take care of it before it becomes too overwhelming. The same is true in caring for the development of your children’s teeth.
It Is Never Too Early for an Orthodontic Evaluation
From the time that your child’s first tooth erupts, the development of your child’s jaw structure is starting to take its permanent structure.
With our experienced and friendly staff, we can detect subtle abnormalities in jaw growth and emerging teeth, and prevent the problems before they become more serious. Waiting until your child has lost all of their baby teeth or until their jaw is finished growing, makes correcting problems more difficult and expensive, or even impossible! Call Okemos Pediatric Dentistry PC to schedule an appointment.
Upon Your Child's Visit, They Will Be Inspected for:
- Crowding of teeth
- Protruding teeth
- Extra or missing teeth
- Jaw deformations and malocclusions
- Too much space between teeth
- Developmental and congenital abnormalities
- Pacifier use and misalignments caused by pacifier use
- Finger or thumb sucking habits
The Benefits of Early Orthodontics Evaluation:
- Gain space for permanent teeth
- Avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions
- Reduce chances of impacted permanent teeth
- Regulate the width of the upper and lower dental arches
- Eliminate potential for abnormal swallowing and speech problems
Dr. Jung Will Evaluate Your Child
Dr. Jung will evaluate your child with any misalignment or spacing issues, often times caused from thumb or finger-sucking or pacifier use.
Our office provides methods for discontinuing thumb sucking including various thumb sucking appliances and information on helping your child positively and easily discontinue thumb sucking. As early as age 7, we can refer your child to an orthodontist for extended treatment.
Striving to make your child's dental visit pleasant and comfortable! We'll help your child with a happy, healthy smile!
